The Decision to Go Natural: Discovering the Power of Plant-Based Ingredients
After my diagnosis, I knew I couldn’t keep using the same products that had caused so much damage. But instead of simply switching brands, I wanted to understand why synthetic ingredients were harming my scalp in the first place.
I started researching the ingredients in my old hair products—sulfates, parabens, artificial fragrances—and was shocked at what I found. Many of these chemicals were known irritants, endocrine disruptors, and even linked to long-term skin issues. No wonder my scalp was suffering.
At the same time, I began learning about natural alternatives that could heal and nourish my skin. Coconut oil, for example, has natural antifungal properties, while tea tree oil helps soothe scalp irritation. Shea butter and olive oil provide deep moisture without clogging pores or causing buildup.
The more I read, the more I realized that nature already had everything I needed. I didn’t have to rely on synthetic formulas—I could create my own plant-based solutions.
My First Creation: Handmade Cold-Processed Soaps
As I learned more about natural ingredients and their benefits, I started thinking beyond hair care. If my scalp had suffered from synthetic products, what about the rest of my skin? I checked the labels on my body washes and lotions—many had the same harsh sulfates, artificial fragrances, and preservatives that had caused my scalp issues.
That’s when I decided to take matters into my own hands. Instead of buying another “natural” product from the store, I wanted to make my own skincare from scratch—something I could trust, made with ingredients I understood.
I started with cold-processed soap because it allowed me to control every aspect of the formula. I carefully selected moisturizing plant oils like shea butter, cocoa butter, coconut oil, and olive oil, ensuring they wouldn’t strip my skin of its natural moisture. Each oil had a purpose:
- Shea butter for deep hydration and skin repair
- Coconut oil for natural cleansing and antimicrobial properties
- Olive oil for gentle nourishment, perfect for sensitive skin
- Cocoa butter for its rich antioxidants and ability to smooth dry skin
My first batch was far from perfect, but it was mine—free from sulfates, parabens, and synthetic fragrances. And unlike commercial soaps that left my skin feeling tight and dry, this one was gentle, hydrating, and packed with real plant power.
As I tested my soap, I felt an even deeper connection to natural skincare. I wasn’t just cleansing my body—I was feeding my skin the nutrients it actually needed.
A Thoughtful Realization
As I stood there, holding my first handmade soap, I thought about something I once read:
“When you heal the root, the rest will follow.”
I had spent so much time treating symptoms—switching from one commercial product to another—without addressing the real issue: the quality of ingredients I was putting on my body. Choosing plant-based skincare wasn’t just about avoiding synthetic chemicals; it was about nourishing my skin at its foundation.
Beyond Soap: Expanding the Vision for Natural Skincare
Creating my first plant-based soap wasn’t just a personal win—it opened a new world of possibilities. I started to see skincare differently, not as a routine filled with store-bought products but as an intentional practice of nourishing the body with ingredients that truly serve it.
As I experimented with different soap formulations—adjusting oil ratios, exploring the benefits of herbs, and perfecting the balance between cleansing and moisture—I realized that this was only the beginning.
If plant-based ingredients could transform my skin, what could they do for hair care? For deeper skin hydration? For rituals that go beyond cleansing and tap into self-care?
A Work in Progress
While my soaps remain the heart of my brand, I’ve been taking time in the “lab”—researching, testing, and refining formulations for future hair and skincare products. It’s a process that requires patience, but I’m committed to getting it right.
For now, my focus remains on creating high-quality, plant-based soaps that cleanse, nourish, and elevate the skincare experience. But trust me—there’s more on the horizon.

This journey is about more than just skincare. It’s about intention, transformation, and crafting products that truly honor the body.
